“…For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  (Matthew 6:21)

We love jewelry at our house.  Our latest interest is glass pendants, and we are even attempting to make those cool “Scrabble Tile” pendants that are everywhere on the net.

Despite our avid interest, though, we have to constantly remind ourselves to remember to put God first.  The Bible is very clear that worldly treasures are temporary.  “Moth and rust destroy…and thieves break in and steal (Matthew 6:19.)  The Bible also implores us in Mark to beware of worldly gain.  Jesus asks:  “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”

It is great to have successful careers and varied interests, but ultimately, our hearts and minds should be focused on doing God’s will…on working to bring others to His kingdom.  It is so important that we strive to do our best with the resources (money, talents, spiritual gifts, time, etc.) that God has provided.  This is called stewardship…and God will ultimately ask us for an account of the work we did as His stewards.

So, let’s not get trapped in a world full of glitter when the gold is right in front of us…an Almighty God who desires a relationship with His children!  Re-discover your true treasure and let God do a wonderful work in you!
