Do you know your ABCs? A - Admit that you are a sinner. B - Believe that Jesus is God's son and that He died on the cross for your sins. C - Confess your Faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord!

“May He grant you your heart’s desire…” (Psalm 20:4)

Wishful thinking is a good thing…or is it?  How many of us have “Wish Lists”?  Places we want to visit.  Things we want for birthdays or Christmas.  Improvements for our homes.  And so on and so on…

On one hand, list-making is a good thing.  It gives each of us an agenda of sorts in order that we might save or organize resources of money, time, and energy in order to accomplish things.  The drawback is that we sometimes find ourselves wrapped up in the accumulation of things:  clothes, collectibles, vacations, etc.

The Bible tells us that God wants us, as His children, to be happy and prosperous.  Most importantly, though, God wants us to do His will!

Listen to the words of Paul:  “We have not ceased to pray for you to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience;  joyously giving thanks to the Father…” (Colossians 1:9-12)

So, you see? There’s nothing wrong with wishful thinking…as long as we please God in the process…and in the outcome!  God wants us to seek His guidance in our lives.  He wants us to “bear fruit”…to accomplish things for His kingdom.  He wants us to be diligent and patient in our service.  Most of all, He wants our thanks and our praise as He accomplishes great things in our lives.

So, where do we start?  As the song tells us, when we put Him first, when we “turn our eyes upon Jesus”, we will find that “the things of Earth will grow strangely dim…”  God is worthy of our time, our resources, and our talents.  So take a chance and add Him to the top of your List of Priorities.  You’ll be amazed how the other “wants” dwindle when you place God first!

Have a great day!
