Do you know your ABCs? A - Admit that you are a sinner. B - Believe that Jesus is God's son and that He died on the cross for your sins. C - Confess your Faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord!

Many of us are caught in the advice-giving trap…the rollercoaster ramblings that some call offering “a shoulder to cry on.”  Unfortunately, some of us are content to play a passive role during times when our friends, more than at any other time, need sound counsel…godly wisdom.  We do our friends a disservice when we withhold Biblical truths.  Face the fact:  If we don’t bring God into these tenuous situations, who will?

None of us show true friendship when we gloss over sin with a pat on the back and a sympathetic word.  True friendship is being honest…loving our friends despite circumstances…but all the while, remaining faithful to our Christian beliefs.

Showing Christian maturity in our friendships is imperative!  The Bible tells us:  “As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves…but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow in all aspects of  Him” (Ephesians 4:14-15).

Let’s grow up, then!  Spiritual maturity means facing problems head-on…not backing away when things become difficult.  It is realizing that we have an advocate with the Father and grasping hold of the peace that comes with the knowledge that God is alway present and watching over us.  Most of all, it is having faith that if we approach situations with a heart of love and honesty and a reliance on His Word, we can accomplish great things…not only in our own lives, but in the lives of our friends, as well!
